Sarah Ferguson has opened up on her close friendship with Princess Diana revealing how the late mother of Prince William and Prince Harry is “always with her”.

Since Princess Diana’s passing in 1997, extended family members have kept their feelings about her death largely to themselves.

However, in an unexpected turn, Sarah, Duchess of York (also known as Sarah Ferguson) has become the latest royal family member to speak on her history with Princess Diana, revealing exactly what she misses most about the beloved Princess of Wales.

The Duchess of York had a close relationship with Princess Diana, who introduced her to ex-husband Prince Andrew, the Duke of York. In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Sarah Ferguson revealed that in amongst the crowds of royalty, celebrities and well-wishers flocking to St George’s Chapel in Windsor for her daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October, her close friend Diana remained at the forefront of her mind.

“I thought of absent friends and family; of Diana—but she’s with me all the time,” she said.

The Duchess also said that of all of Diana’s characteristics, she misses her “tinkling laughter” the most.

“Diana was my best friend and the funniest person I knew. She had such timing and wit.

“It was a total joy to be with her because we just laughed and enjoyed life so much, and I know she would have loved the wedding,” she told the publication.

The Duchess of York also recalled sneaking away from her father’s polo matches as a child to “play tag with like-minded truants – including Prince Andrew, who was just my age.”

In the wide-ranging interview with Daily Mail, the Duchess of York also addressed the longstanding reports of her boisterous, troublemaking personality.

“Oh, I am in every way a child,” the Duchess told the newspaper. “It’s who I am. It gets me into endless trouble.”

“People think you’re impossible or difficult if they can’t relate to you, if you don’t take life seriously. But the key to life for me is that I look at life with a child’s sense of excitement and joy.”
