Royals mark International Nurses Day with heartwarming video of thanks
The Royal Family has released a video to mark International Nurses Day, thanking nurses around the world for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.

The video features appearances from the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Countess of Wessex, the Princess Royal, and even contains audio from the Queen.

The Royal Family members are seen on video calls with nurses from around the globe, asking about their work and expressing their appreciation.

They speak with healthcare professionals working in Australia, India, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Bahamas, Cyprus, Tanzania and the UK.

On each call, members of The Royal Family reiterated their thanks to nurses across the Commonwealth for the incredible work they do on a daily basis.

The video leads with audio from a telephone call between the Queen and Professor Kathleen McCourt, the president of the Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation and fellow of the Royal College of Nursing, of which the Queen is patron.

“This is rather an important day,” says the Queen. “[Nurses have] obviously had a very important part to play recently.”
