Regional Flavours, presented by The Courier-Mail, is Queensland’s premier free food and wine festival. In its 11th year, the 2019 edition promises foodies yet another sensational weekend at South Bank Parklands from July 20-21.
As the capital of the Sunshine State, Brisbane is known for its beautiful balmy weather and what better way to spend a winter weekend than with the finest food the region has to offer in a location that is simply stunning. Regional Flavours is a celebration of all things Queensland – it brings regionally grown and made food to the city, and showcases Brisbane’s sub-tropical, year-round outdoor lifestyle.
Bask in the glorious tropical breezes on the city’s famed South Bank as you enjoy free cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs and industry experts. Indulge in wine, beer and street stalls, listen to live music from local artists and a sample fresh produce from over 80 fresh food stallholders from across Queensland.
Regional Flavours: Main Stage
The Main Stage is Regional Flavours’ hero stage where you can see all of your favourite TV chefs and cooks present delicious recipes using Queensland produce, for free. This year’s talent line-up includes Matt Preston; Miguel Maestre; George Calombaris; Gary Mehigan; Reynold Poernomo; Ellie Bullen; Justine Schofield; Dan Churchill; Poh Ling Yeow and many more.
This year, the Main Stage also features celebrity book signings. Head along to purchase your favourite celebrities’ cookbook and have it signed after their demonstration.
Future Food
Future Food at Regional Flavours is the event’s food innovation hub. It is located at Flowstate during event weekend and features a range of innovative stallholders for patrons to sample and shop at, plus fascinating talks that focus on the food innovation occurring in south east Queensland.
A total of 18 different stallholders will be showcased at Future Food across the Saturday and Sunday. Talks will be hosted by experts, and will focus on global trends influencing food and beverage innovation, such as waste, sustainability, health and wellness.
Other festival experiences include; The Hunting Club – a pop-up bar, bistro and stage that celebrates beer, beef and lamb; River Quay – Regional Flavours’ waterfront dwell-space; eatSouthBank Street Stalls; The Picnic Patch; Kids Collective and The Sound Society.
All venues are open from 10am-5pm, except River Quay, which is open from 10am-7pm, and The Hunting Club, which is open from 5-10pm on Friday 19 July and from 10am-10pm on the weekend.
