A spokesperson for the Earl of Snowdon and his wife the Countess of Snowdon has confirmed the pair are divorcing.

The earl, David Armstrong-Jones, is Queen Elizabeth II’s nephew and the son of Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones.

He has been married to wife Serena for 26 years and the pair have two children – Charles, 20, and  Margarita, 17.

A spokesperson for the Snowdons released a statement on Monday which read: “The Earl and Countess of Snowdon have amicably agreed that their marriage has come to an end and that they shall be divorced.

“They ask that the press respect their privacy and that of their family.”

Armstrong-Jones is the son of the Queen’s sister, Princess Margaret and photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones.

Margaret died in 2002 while Antony passed away in 2017. The pair were married in 1960 and divorced in 1978.

The announcement of the earl’s divorce comes less than a week after the Queen’s grandson Peter Phillips also announced he is splitting from wife of 12 years, Autumn.

Phillips is the first of the Queen’s grandchildren to legally split.
