Prince William says fatherhood has shown him “how precious life is”
Prince William on fatherhood "you realise how precious life is and it puts it all in perspective"

In a recent interview with presenters Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, the Duke of Cambridge has given a candid response to being asked about fatherhood.

The father of two shared how entering into fatherhood has completely changed him.

The interview, which was documenting his father’s Prince’s Trust charity, got William thinking about his own children, stating that he struggles with the thought of “not being around to see your children grow up”.

William, who lost his own mother at the young age of fifteen, admitted his once tough exterior has given way to emotion after becoming a father.

“I never used to get too wound up or worries about things. But now the smallest little things, you well up a little more, you get affected by the sort of things that happen around the world or whatever a lot more, I think, as a father.

“Just because you realise how precious life is and it puts it all in perspective. The idea of not being around to see your children grow up and stuff like that.”

In the same documentary William, accompanied by brother Harry, spoke about the tremendous pride they felt for their father.

In terms of his charity work, the brothers said their father had an “insurmountable amount of duty in him”.

“He is incredibly driven to do his duty and that from a very young age has been instilled in him,” Prince William said, adding that this sense of duty “is where a lot of his passion and his drive comes from.”
