Postcard From Australia

Postcard From Australia
Australia's leading up and coming aerial photographer, Hulia Box, has gone from shooting the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah and the Royals, to hanging outside of helicopters, taking amazing photographs of everyday life from up in the air.

Inspired by one of Australia’s greatest living artists, John Olsen, Hulia wanted to create abstract work herself, without restoring to image manipulation. She spent months researching locations using Google Earth, before discovering the colours of Western Australia, where she found the perfect combination of colour, line and geometry.

“The amazing colours that I see with my naked eye looking down, especially over the coastline, are mesmerising,” Hulia said. “And the scale from up above in the air is something I just fell in love with.”

This week, she will hold her inaugural solo photographic exhibition, Postcard from Australia, in Sydney from July 18-July 23. The exhibition itself is free for the public, with all funds raised going to the Fred Hollows Foundation.
