Pharrell Williams Launches Gender Neutral Skincare Line

Musician and fashion designer Pharrell Williams has announced the launch of his own clean, vegan, fragrance-free line intended for all genders.

With a reputation for boasting preternaturally good skin, the 47-year-old is well placed to make an influential mark with the collection, called Humanrace Skincare

The just launched-range currently comprises just three items, a rice powder cleanser, an enzyme exfoliant, and a ‘humidifying’ moisturizer, each created in consultation with William’s longtime dermatologist, Dr. Elena Jones.

The trio are intended to be used in conjunction to achieve a ‘three minute facial’. However communication around the launch suggests the brand might quickly evolve into something bigger.

“Humanrace is a universe of products and people dedicated to the pursuit of wellbeing, created and curated by Pharrell Williams, the website announces.

“We believe that every individual has the potential to understand themselves better, and wake up everyday feeling empowered to turn good intentions into actions. Our goal is to help you in this quest.”

Speaking to Allure before launch, Williams explained he has big aspirations.  “Humanrace is a full-on brand. We just want to make things better. We want to democratize the experience of achieving wellness. And I’m not trying to be like any other wellness brand out there. That’s what they do. That’s what they give. Ours is all based on results and solutions and sensations. We wanted to look at sensations. I mean, we live in a world that needs it.”

As part of the brand’s goal to make its items accessible for everyone, the squat, grass-green packaging of each item includes braille to assist the visually impaired.

Each product was also made with 50% post-consumer recycled landfill plastic and has refillable components to reduce single-use plastic, indicating an ongoing commitment to environmental considerations.

10 of the Most Desirable New Beauty Arrivals to Shop Now

Update your routine from this selection of the best new makeup hair and skincare products on counters now.

With the year rocketing towards Christmas, it’s likely you’ll be thinking about shopping in some shape or form. While that (rightly) might be more focussed on others, while you’re at it, there are plenty of exciting new beauty releases in the form of desirable makeup, luxurious body treats and new-gen skincare. The good news is, many of them are perfectly giftable so it can’t hurt to browse, right?

It’s also a good time to think about what might be useful on upcoming summer breaks. While we won’t be venturing too far from home it’s important to ensure your beauty routine involves adequate protection as well as suitable accompaniment to those crisp linen co-ords, or wafty summer dresses.

Here’s our edit of the most desirable beauty arrivals right now.

Valentino Voce Viva 50ml Eau de Parfum, $187

Quite aside from the stunning bottle lined with Valentino’s signature Rockstuds that makes this one of the most giftable new perfumes this year, the radiant floral scent is an uplifting winner. It has sparkling notes of orange blossom and gardenia, bergamot and mandarin with a softer moss and vanilla base.

MAC False Lashes in Siren, $28 each

Lashes have long been freed from ‘party-only’ status, now totally acceptable for everyday, particularly with the variety available in MAC’s new lash line up. There are 10 new styles added to the brand’s existing core line, together making up a collection of 20 options . That being said, the more dramatic options in the range DO make a great addition to a glam soiree get-up.

Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Golden Nights Collection Limited Edition Eyeshadow Palette, $127

Dior’s 5 Colouers eye palettes are iconic, but with a new formula this year, distinguishable by the word ‘Couture’ tacked on to the name, they’re easier to apply and the pigment more striking than ever. Despite the wintry northern-hemisphere nod in the limited snowflake embossing, it offers a stunning summer-appropriate selection of hues in this version, you can’t go wrong.

Coola Refreshing Water Mist Organic Face Sunscreen SPF18, $65

We’re all on board with required adequate SPF protection as an essential morning step, but what about topping up? We like this new refreshing face mist that also has added protection but won’t disturb your makeup when applied over top. Just be aware that the factor is only 18 so it’s not going to provide long-term protection – so keep on spritzing!

Maybelline Lifter Hydrating Lip Gloss, $24.99

Regardless of being at the other end of the price scale, Maybelline’s formulations are always top notch. This divine new gloss smooths over lines and makes your pout look plump and full – no filler required! It feels remarkably smooth, rather than sticky too.

Kylie Skin Face Moisturiser, $45

The arrival of Kylie Skin by Kylie Jenner is one of two celebrity lines landing at Mecca everyone is talking about right now (the other being Gwyneth’s Goop). Kylie’s simple, fragrance-free day moisturiser is one of the more worthy additions to your bathroom cabinet, its silky feel and quickly-absorbed nature working well under makeup.

Moroccanoil Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo, $48

Bottle blonde is hard work, an effective purple shampoo a necessity to keep brassiness or undesirable tones at bay between salon visits, particularly if you’re hitting any pool that contains chlorine this summer. Moroccanoil makes the job easier with its new release that uses nourishing, antioxidant argan oil to ensure brittle strands are cared for, sealing the cuticle for glossy shine. It works well with grey hair too.

La Prairie Platinum Rare Haute-Rejuvenation Cream, $1575

We’d expect nothing less than some pain-staking, mind-boggling science involved in the formulation of an advanced new option from luxe skin experts La Prairie. This cream contains a closely guarded complex designed to re-energise skin cells as well as peptides to strengthen the skin’s barrier and boost collagen production, in return refining skin’s texture, fine lines and boosting elasticity.

Clarins Intense Lip Comfort Oil, $45

The intensity of a lipstick with a smooth, silky feel of an oil, this shiny lip colour is packed with caring ingredients including hazelnut, jojoba and cranberry oils to whip dry lips back into shape.

Slip Pure Silk Lipstick Queen Sleep Mask, $65

What better gift for a beauty lover, than a lipstick embroidered silk sleep mask? Need we say more?
