Palawan Voted ‘Best Island In The World’ For Second Consecutive Year

US travel publication, Travel + Leisure, have voted Palawan ‘Best Island in the World’ for the second consecutive year, firmly securing the Philippines as a must-see holiday destination.

Palawan features over 2000 islands, offering guests stunningly beautiful beaches, secret lagoons, underground rivers and exotic wildlife to explore and discover. In addition, Boracay Island was named third in the ‘Best Island’ category also.

Norjamin Delos Reyes, Tourism Attaché at Philippines Department of Tourism Australia and New Zealand said: “We are delighted that Palawan and Boracay have been recognised as the first and third ‘Best Islands in the World’!  These islands truly represent the essence of a tropical island holiday escape, complete with a backdrop of beautiful white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and a fun and lively atmosphere.  The Philippines provides lasting memories of the most stunning scenery and with over 7,107 islands to explore it’s a destination for every traveller.”

Palawan is located in the western part of the Philippines and stretches between Mindoro in the Northeast to Borneo, Indonesia in the Southwest.  Here, quaint vishing villages, UNESCO World Heritage sites, jungles and beaches perfectly combine to create an idyllic setting and holiday adventure.   Guests can swim, snorkel, kayak and dive to discover marine animals, or hike and trek to witness the abundance of wildlife.
