NZ Hosts World First – Race To The Delicious Finish
Quattro Bistro offered a thrilling accelerated dining experience for 20 lucky diners

It’s not often, if ever, that gastronomy and motor racing appear in the same sentence, but AUDI has combined the two for a very unique, gourmet experience.

In a world first, the car manufacturer created quattro bistro, a glass pop-up restaurant making not only the most of the breathtaking Pisa Range in New Zealand’s Southern Alps, but also the Audi’s quattro system.

In a monumental twist, the pop-up was sans-kitchen, sending the quattro waiters, or in this case, AUDI RS4 drivers, into a revving frenzy to get meals to diners on time from a kitchen all the way across the mountain range.

Celebrity chef, Simon Gault created the specially designed menu for the 20 lucky diners who had won a seat at the single day event at the Audi quattro Winter Games. He described the idea as seemingly “insurmountable” at first, but was pleasantly surprised by the end result,

“We needed to make sure that the food was of the highest standard possible and that our guests had the most amazing dining experience. Thanks to the quattros we pulled it off.“

The “quattro waiters” were not only tasked with navigating ice and snow at 160 kmph to deliver piping hot meals, the food needed to remain firmly on the plates.

Audi New Zealand’s General Manager Dean Sheed, said, “This had never been done before and was definitely a risk, but we had perfect conditions on the day set amongst the back drop of the Southern Alps, and our RS4s delivered.”
