Connell and Marianne will be reuniting for two bonus episodes of the hit Irish drama.

Fans of Normal People can celebrate as it was announced Connell and Marianne will be reuniting for two bonus episodes, set 40 years on.

The episodes will be released as part of a Comic Relief special, RTE Does Comic Relief.

Speaking to RTÉ Radio 1, Comic Relief co-founder Richard Curtis confirmed Paul Mescal and Daisy-Edgar-Jones will be returning to their roles.

“There’s a beautiful piece called Normal Older People, which is imagining what would have happened to Marianne and Connell 40 years from now. I promise you, these are two very special bits,” he said.

Curtis remained tight-lipped about further details, however he did reveal the Normal Older People special will feature a special guest star.

“It’s so much better than anything we’ve ever made. I mean I can’t even say all about it because there’s a guest star in it. But it’s really, it’s really beautiful,” said Curtis.

“One of the things about Comic Relief is it just gives opportunities for things to happen that would never happen. I can’t imagine any context in which they would have allowed this little sort of extra-special into the world of Normal People.”

RTE Does Comic Relief will be airing in Ireland on RTÉ One on Friday 26 June. Money raised will go towards The Community Foundation For Ireland which will distribute funds to various charity organisations throughout Ireland.
