New shop isn’t interested in selling to you, but is happy to SHARE
A new kinder concept of ‘shopping’ has been initiated as the UK's first 'share shop' opens

A ‘shop’ hoping to revolutionise the future of retail has been opened in Frome, UK after eight unemployed young people were asked to get it up and running in just two months. Rather than selling, the concept involves sharing, with the founders aiming to reduce waste and foster more meaningful connections with things we use.

Items are loaned rather than sold at this ‘borrowing hub’ with the added bonus of personalization. When you purchase an item, you learn the story of its provenance – where it came from and who owned it. Each sale item has a photo attached of its previous owner.

SHARE founders hope this will nurture trust and respect as well as providing a practical service.

A nominal fee of only £1 and £4 is charged to borrow items, which are lent out for a few days at a time. SHARE has asked for donations of high quality, useful items to share with others in the community.

The enterprise was given a headstart with funding by Frome’s town council who hopes the shop will develop into a fully self-sustaining enterprise.
