Moving the Goalposts
Pip Candrick was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011. Despite two critical operations and a series of harrowing setbacks, the 53-year-old has reclaimed her life – and her memories – through long-distance running.

On June 18, 2011, Pip Candrick had an MRI of her brain. The results of this scan changed her life forever. She has been on a journey through surgery, recovery, setbacks, fundraising to help others and reaching her goals, and documented it through her Facebook page Pip’s Journey. Experience her inspiring story.

“A brain tumour diagnosis is lifechanging,” she says. “It can be difficult, but can also be an opportunity to set yourself some goals that are totally out of your reach and then reinvent your self-image to reach those goals!

“I’m a huge believer that we have the capacity to do great things, even recover from extraordinary happenings. With help, we can tap into our inner ‘superman’ and achieve extraordinary things we never thought possible before.

“I believe people who actively participate in their fight for recovery along with their health will improve the quality of their life and may enhance the possibilities of their recovery.”
