Mother attempts to sell newborn boy for $7,000
A mother in China has been prosecuted for selling her newborn baby for $7,000.

30-year-old Huang is the latest in a string of cases that are bringing to light China’s shocking child trade industry.

Conspiring with an obstetrician in Xinxiang country in the Henan province, Huang made plans to sell her baby son, according to legal publication Procuratorial Daily.

Yang went on to sell the bay boy for 42,000 yuan to a couple in the same province.

A woman in central China has been prosecuted for selling her newborn baby for $7,000, state media reports said, the latest of a string of shocking cases that have shed light on the country’s trade in children.

The 30-year-old woman, surnamed Huang, allegedly colluded with an obstetrician, Yang, in Xinxiang county, Henan province, to sell the baby boy, according to details published in the Procuratorial Daily, a legal publication. The obstetrician kept 7000 yuan for herself and gave 35,000 yuan to Huang.

According to Huang’s grandmother, the mother left the village to head to her parents’ home after an argument with her husband.

Upon returning two weeks later, she said the baby had died, but the grandmother grew suspicious after her granddaughter in-law didn’t appear saddened by the news. Soon after, a family relative made the shock discovery.

Huang, who had a son from a previous marriage, was concerned about how her eldest would react with the new baby, reports say.

The baby is currently in the care of his father’s family.
