March 12-22 is Melbourne Design Week, providing a unique opportunity for Australia’s design community to come together and present new work, debate ideas and consider how design shapes the world around us.

This year’s event is the largest programme to date, and will feature more than 300 talks, exhibitions, tours and workshops.

The 11-day initiative is a collaboration between the National Gallery of Victoria, Creative Victoria and the Victorian Government.

It’s the third consecutive year for Melbourne Design Week, with this year’s theme being ‘How Can Design Shape Life?’

This question is posed through five thematic pillars – Design Cultures, The War on Waste Continues, Healthy Cities, Waterfront, and Design Evolution.

NGV Director Tony Ellwood AM has said the event is a celebration of innovation and ideas that showcase “the best in global design practice in the design capital of Australia”.

With the full programme now live, Melbourne Design Week provides an exceptional opportunity for audiences to experience a diverse selection of keynote lectures, exhibitions and talks by the who’s who of the local, national and international design sector,” he said.
