Turns out there will be a special New Zealand element to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding cake.

Earlier this month, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced that they had chosen the flavour of their wedding cake and the bakery who would create the important treat. Californian pastry chef and food writer Claire Ptak, who owns the Violet Bakery in east London, has been commissioned to create the cake, which will be an organic lemon and elderflower cake covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.

Now, however, it has been revealed that a New Zealander will be adding their skills to the making of this royal cake. Violet’s head baker is Izaak Adams grew up in Fairlie, near Timaru. On Instagram, Adam describes himself as a “London based baker. Bespoke cakes for events, weddings, parties and occasions… Head baker at Violet in Hackney.” He is featured in a post on Violet’s own Instagram below.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will marry on May 19 at St.George’s Chaple.
