How to make the most of your weekend

How to make the most of your weekend

We all know the feeling of Monday morning rolling around far too soon with the weekend quickly becoming a distant memory. Fortunately, there is a way to slow down, press pause and make the most of your time out. Here's how to make the most of your weekend.

Stop hitting snooze

As tempting as it is to squeeze in a few extra hours of shuteye come the weekend, spend too long sleeping in and your day will soon be over. Not only has the age-old saying “the early bird catches the worm” never been more relevant, recent studies have revealed that getting too much sleep can actually be detrimental to your health and wellbeing. So set that alarm for 7.00am, rise and shine and enjoy the weekend ahead.

Make time for yourself

It’s great using the weekend to catch-up with friends and family, but scheduling back-to-back dates with your nearest and dearest every time Friday rolls around is one of the quickest ways to wave goodbye to your weekend. If you feel like your weekends are just vanishing on you, try setting aside some “me time.” Listen to some music, indulge in some at-home spa treatments, read that best-selling book you’ve had sitting around for months or even meditate. It’s just as important to use the weekend to recuperate from the week that has been.

Get outdoors

The Number One Reason You Should Take A Hike

Spending a 40-hour week desk-bound in an air-conditioned office isn’t always good for the soul, which is why you should use your weekend to head outside for a decent dose of fresh air and vitamin D. Take a walk or bike ride in your neighbourhood park or look further afar to discover your city’s best nature trails and beaches. Stuck for ideas? Visit your local council’s website for local tracks, walkways and regional parks. Nothing beats a good rush of endorphins following outdoor activities.

Fuel your body

Celebrating the end of the working week can often mean indulging in one too many treats. As tempting as it is to let your healthy eating routine fly out the window come 5 o’clock Friday evening, you’ll feel much better if you maintain a balanced diet seven days a week. The impending festive season often means an extra champagne or two over the weekend, but keeping your alcohol consumption to a minimum means you’ll feel fresh as a daisy the next morning.
