It was the show on the New Zealand Fashion Week schedule that everyone was waiting for – Maggie Marilyn’s hotly anticipated runway debut.
Despite the local fashion brand’s remarkable international success – the likes of Kendall Jenner and the Duchess of Sussex have both worn Maggie Marilyn designs – founder Maggie Hewitt made the decision to host the brand’s first runway show in New Zealand. “It felt really important for us to it here in New Zealand,” said Hewitt. “This is home and we wouldn’t be where we are without the constant support of our incredible local makers and supporters.”
And disappoint her local supporters Hewitt did not. The 24-year-old designer and her talented team transformed the Glasshouse in Morningside into a whimsical springtime wonderland that formed the backdrop for Hewitt’s ethereal and undeniably romantic collection. But it was really Hewitt’s talent for creating soft, feminine tailoring and a covetable colour palette that stole the show.
