Liv Tyler’s charity work
We take a look at how this month's cover-star, actress Liv Tyler is using her fame to help others through her charity work.

Inspired to become an Ambassador for children’s charity UNICEF by Angelina Jolie and her idol Audrey Hepburn, Tyler signed to work as a National Ambassador for the charity’s American fund after meeting the late Hepburn’s son at a charity fundraiser.

“I was really blown away and inspired by everything that she had done for children via and through UNICEF and I guess it really, really floored me in a way that I hadn’t ever felt toward a public figure before,” she said at the time.

“To see her kindness was inspiring and spoke to me as a person. She was so real and so elegant.”

Jolie’s recent work as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF in Asia was important to her too, “I am also inspired by what Angelina Jolie is doing by traveling to places like Cambodia to help children by actually being there and being more involved.”

The 37 year-old single mother has also thrown her support behind many other humanitarian groups and charities including:

Breast Cancer Research Foundation: Providng funding which has led to major accomplishments in breast cancer research, and increasing public awareness

Food Bank For New York City: A member of America’s Second Harvest, the organization coordinates the distribution of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies to organizations providing free food to the city’s hungry.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: America’s third largest health care charity, pioneering procedures to help seriously ill children

The Lunchbox Fund: The Fund was founded in 2004, after a teacher noticed a group of students who had no food sitting where they didn’t have to watch the other students eat.

To Write Love on Her Arms:To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.

“LittleMissMatched(TM)”:The mission: to raise money for kids with cancer and other terminal illnesses. Many Hollywood celebs donated their favorite combination of “LittleMissMatched” socks and added their signature.

“Staples of the Stars” auction:Liv donated a signed stapler for online auction at Staples.com, along with many other famous people. The money went to Staples Foundation for Learning.

GuitarMania: GuitarMania is is a charity, selling arts made by famous artist and celebrities.  In this specific event Liv designed (with the help of Tatia DiChiara) a 10-foot-tall Prewitt Fiberglass guitar. The guitar was bought in a charity event in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland, November 6th 2004. We don’t know for what amount – but we bet is was a lot!
