Lady Gaga took home three Grammy Awards earlier this week and in an emotional acceptance speech she shared a powerful message about mental health issues.

American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga has never been one to shy away from talking about mental health. It’s an incredibly important topic that carries so much stigma, and she’s always been proud to be a star who will use her voice to normalise being open about it and encourage more people to seek help and mental health care.

During a speech after her song “Shallow,” the hit power ballad from A Star Is Born, won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Gaga gave what is said to be possibly one of her most powerful speeches yet.

“If I don’t get another chance to say this, I just want to say I’m so proud to be a part of a movie that addresses mental health issues. They’re so important,” she said. “A lot of artists deal with that. And we gotta take care of each other. So if you see somebody that’s hurting, don’t look away. And if you’re hurting, even though it might be hard, try to find that bravery within yourself to dive deep and go tell somebody and take them up in your head with you.”

Plenty of fans on social media also agreed with her speech and were glad she used her platform to address such an important issue.
