Kelly Preston, wife of John Travolta, dies of breast cancer
Actress Kelly Preston has died at the age of 57 following a two-year battle with breast cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, John Travolta, and their children, daughter Ella, 20, and son Benjamin, nine. The couple’s son Jett died aged 16 in 2009.

In a statement to PEOPLE, a family representative said Preston had chosen not to share details of her cancer battle with the public.

“On the morning of July 12, 2020, Kelly Preston, adored wife and mother, passed away following a two-year battle with breast cancer,” said the representative.

“Choosing to keep her fight private, she had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, supported by her closest family and friends.

“She was a bright, beautiful and loving soul who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched.

“Her family asks for your understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”

Preston starred in a number of popular films in the 80s and 90s. Her first major movie role was in 1985’s Mischief.

In the following years, she starred in films such as SpaceCamp, Twins, Jerry Maguire and For Love of the Game. Her final film role was in 2018’s Gotti which she starred in alongside husband Travolta.
