Kate Winslet’s self effacing ACCTA award acceptance speech makes us love her even more.

Our December cover star Kate Winslet sent a self effacing ACCTA (Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts) award acceptance speech made with her phone, shown at the awards last night.

In the speech she admits that the “home” video was her 6th take and in the 5th she noticed a hole in her sweater. Her humour and gratitude showing us how down-to-earth and endearing the multi-award winner truly is.

She won the award for Best Lead Actress for her role as Myrtle “Tilly” Dunnage in the film The Dressmaker, shot in Australia. In her pre-recorded speech she honoured her costars and expressed her disbelief of being given the award saying “I am sure that I haven’t done [won]…because it should go to a local and I am indeed an outsider”.

“But I did put on lipstick just in case”
