Kate Middleton speaks out about children’s mental health

Kate Middleton speaks out about children’s mental health
In the Duchess of Cambridge's first appearance since her pregnancy announcement, she encourages families to talk openly with one another about their feelings.

Kate Middleton returned to the public eye today in a video launching the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families’ new campaign, “You’re never too young to talk mental health.”

The video aims to educate families and children on the importance of talking about mental health, as well as strategies for coping with low moods, anxiety and depression. “It helps us all talk about our mental health,” Kate says, urging people to speak out when feelings get “too big to manage on our own.”

She also implores people to check in with those around them. “Sometimes it’s just a simple conversation that can make things better,” she states.

The Duchess has actively supported mental health awareness throughout her time with the royal family. In 2016 she fronted the Heads Together campaign with Prince William and Prince Harry, and released a video for Children’s Mental Health Week addressing the need for discussion on mental health issues.

The video, filmed earlier this year, is Kate’s first public appearance since her pregnancy announcement earlier this month.
