Kate Middleton Opens Addiction Centre
"I believe so passionately in community projects", the Duchess said.

The Duchess of Cambridge visited Essex to open a new, community-based addiction treatment centre. Kate, 36, officially opened the centre as part of her role as Patron of UK charity Action Addiction.

The Duchess made a heartfelt speech about the importance of the centre’s work and her passion for community projects. “It seems like a long time ago I got involved with Action Addiction, I think it was about six years ago”, she began.

“But they have a very special place for me, with really the starting of my learning, particularly with now and the development into mental health”, she continued. “So you’re very special to me and it’s great to be here.” Kate added that: “I believe so passionately in community projects, so I wish it all the best for success in the future”.

She then spoke with clients going through recovery about the benefits of the centre’s non-residential recovery program, Clouds in the Community. The program aims to reach a wider number of people by helping clients recover in neighbourhoods across the UK.
