Jacinda Ardern Meets The Queen
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern had her first meeting with Queen Elizabeth II, during which she gifted Her Majesty a special item.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern had her first meeting with the Queen last night. Ardern and partner Clarke Gayford enjoyed tea with Her Majesty at Buckingham Palace. Ardern was there in her capacity as one of the four of the 19 new Commonwealth leaders.

During her visit, Ardern presented the Queen with a special gift – a photo of the Queen on her trip to New Zealand during the 1950s taken by a local student at the time. She also gave Her Majesty some tasty local food items.

In return, the Queen gifted New Zealand two photographs of herself and Prince Philip to sit in Ardern’s Beehive office.

Ardern’s visit with the Queen followed a busy week in which she met Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Theresa May. She also enjoyed a second meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

It’s fair to say Ardern loves British people, having requested a special meeting with Ed Sheeran during his New Zealand visit earlier this year.
