International Space Station release incredible images of New Zealand from space

Breathtaking images have been released that show New Zealand from space.

New Zealander’s on the South Island and Wellington will be treated to an undisputed view of the International Space Station tonight if they look up to the sky.

To honour the journey, NASA astronaut Ignazio Magnani has sent the world a gift with his beautiful shots of NZ from space.

The pictures released so far, offer a breathtaking bird’s eye view of Otago, Christchurch, Banks Peninsula, Wellington and the South Island.

The Astronaut also released an incredible time lapse of New Zealand, recorded over the past week.

If you want to glimpse the station as it makes its way across the sky, those in the South Island will be the first to witness it, as it crosses the country.

The Space Station will be visible to Otago residents from approximately 7.27, moving to Canterbury at 7.28 and through to Wellington just before 7.30.
