International Day for the Eradication of Poverty
The 2017 theme is "a path toward peaceful and inclusive societies."

This year’s International Day for the Eradication of Poverty marks the 25th anniversary of the event. In 1992, the United Nations declared that October 17 would annually recognise the need to help families and individuals living in poverty.

International Day for the Eradication of Poverty highlights the concept that poverty violates basic human rights, and unity is needed to improve conditions worldwide. This year’s theme is titled “Answering the Call of October 17 to end poverty: A path toward peaceful and inclusive societies,” the United Nations’ website declares.

If you want to get involved, you an volunteer at charities that provide support for poor and homeless people, or donate money, clothes and supplies. Talk to your local charities today and help eradicate poverty.
