Inside the issue: MiNDFOOD NZ August 2020
Our August 2020 issue of MiNDFOOD NZ is here, and we're shining a light on the country's very best and brightest.

New Zealanders have a proud reputation for being progressive and hard-working people, an attribute that shining through even more today.

From a record-breaking freediver to a passionate advocate for Māori health, we’re celebrating Kiwi ingenuity with a snapshot of talented people from around the country.

“When pulling together the list of New Zealanders for our feature, there arose many extraordinary examples that drove home the same message: if you have an idea, you really just have to get out there and do it,” writes Editor-in-chief Michael McHugh.

2020 New Zealander of the Year, Jennifer Ward-Lealand is our cover star. In between winning awards and her devotion to the performing arts and advocacy or te reo, Ward-Lealand is also helping actors during the most vulnerable moments in their careers.

“It’s kind of my one-woman mission to educate people about the life of a New Zealand actor,” she says. “I hope I can make good use of [the award] in the second half of 2020, until I hand over that beautiful korowai to the next person.”

In our health section, we look at the surprising foods that damage the heart, explore how our emotions affect our perception of time, and examine the chemical effects of being in love.

Our beauty editor shares the latest in beauty releases and celebrates our favourite NZ beauty brands.

We also feature a stunning home on the edge of a nature reserve, go travelling in Fiordland, and share sumptuous winter curry and mushroom recipes.
