Inside the issue: MiNDFOOD September 2021

By MiNDFOOD

Our September issue of MiNDFOOD has hit the shelves!

This month we go back to nature with renowned naturalist Sir David Attenborough gracing the cover, along with a packed Future Renovation feature.

“The headline A FORCE OF GOOD says it all,” writes Editor-in-Chief Michael McHugh. “At this moment in our lifetime, to sit and listen and soak up some smart thinking and goodness from David Attenborough feels like the right thing to do.”

More than ever, Sir David Attenborough stands as the champion of the environment. In our cover story, we look at how the 95-year-old is still showing us the world is a beautiful place, as well as urging us to protect it while we can.

Inspired by Sir David’s lifetime of advocacy, we shine a light on the local heroes making a difference in their communities. We talk to the penguin protectors who have dedicated their lives to saving the Little Blue Penguins, a young doctor making workplaces mentally safe, and a healthcare pioneer revolutionising domestic violence prevention. We also meet a Waikato woman who founded a free clothing hub for people in need, and a passionate music teacher making kids’ music lessons accessible and affordable.

In Health, we look at the mental crisis affecting teens, explore the benefits of intuitive eating, examine what makes a happy life and get to the root of our comfort consumption.

Our Beauty Editor talks anti-stress skincare, father’s day grooming gifts, new hair tools for smooth locks, and trans-Tasman beauty pioneers.

Head to the Home section for a jam-packed Future Renovation special, where we go room-by-room looking at the latest products, styles and expert advice to transform your home.

In Travel, we explore the mighty Mt Tarawera, wellness resorts and the best of the Bay of Islands.

Flick to our Food section for in season recipes, including Chinese-inspired cabbage rolls, richly-flavoured beef cheeks, and crispy Kingfish with curried lentils.

Meanwhile, Master Sommelier Cameron Douglas heads to Marlborough for fine food and wine, and rounds up his top cellar-worthy wines.

Plus, we’ve got lots of puzzles, crosswords, competitions and more.

On sale 2 August in NZ and 5 August in Australia – in stores and at mindfood.com/shop
