Inside the issue: MiNDFOOD NZ April 2021
This month, we're shining a light on the best of Aotearoa with an exciting birthday issue of MiNDFOOD New Zealand.

For our exciting April issue of MiNDFOOD, we’re celebrating our 13th birthday with inspiring Kiwis across the country.

“Launching MiNDFOOD on International Women’s Day 13 years ago – this year going on sale again on that same launch day, March the 8th – makes me proud of all those talented women I’ve had surrounding me who believe in my potential, perhaps when at times I can’t see it myself,” writes Editor-in-Chief Michael McHugh.

“Take this time to celebrate those who celebrate you. More than anything, though, I realise MiNDFOOD, with its range of experiences and stories, is also a cheerleader for others and those who want to achieve their dream.”

This month, we go behind the scenes with our reigning America’s Cup champions, Peter Burling and Kevin Shoebridge, to see their preparations as they get ready to defend their title.

Continuing our celebration of Aotearoa, we showcase inspiring figures in our community, an advocate for Muslim women, the Upper Hutt locals who built a repair cafe, a leading New Zealand animal conservationist, and a Kiwi company providing jobs for people with disabilities.

In culture, we cover the largest Indigenous Film Festival in the Southern Hemisphere, talk to the man behind a Museum of Mystery and visit the artist-run Hamilton gallery shaking up the art world.

In health, we explore the importance of quality sleep, meet a father and son making waves with 3D x-rays and reflect on the importance of celebrating milestones.

Our beauty editor rounds up all the latest in skincare, including native extracts, the best homegrown beauty brands and this season’s bright and burnished cosmetic hues. In celebration of International Women’s Day, we also celebrate five inspiring women of worth with L’Oréal.

In home, we embrace the season with fabrics inspired by the great outdoors and step inside a light-filled home that brings together vintage finds and contemporary interpretations.

Of course, it isn’t a birthday without some cake and we’ve rounded up the tastiest crowd-pleasing cake recipes, plus nutritious vegetarian dishes that tickle the tastebuds. In drink, Cameron Douglas reveals the best wine regions of Aotearoa and talks to the winemaking couple fighting slavery through their label.

Plus, we’ve got plenty of puzzles, brain teasers and competitions to keep you entertained.
