The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be attending Christmas festivities with the Royal Family at Sandringham this year, announcing they will instead be spending the holidays in the United States.

So how are Meghan and Harry spending their time while on their six-week break from royal duties?

The Telegraph reports the pair are taking the opportunity to expand the work of their charitable foundation, Sussex Royal, into the US.

A source told the UK paper the former actress wants to make the most of her Hollywood connections for fundraising.

Meghan has reportedly met with her former publicist Keleigh Thomas Morgan from celebrity PR firm Sunshine Sachs to plot the US launch of the philanthropic organisation.

Aside from working to grow their foundation, the Duke and Duchess will be spending time with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland.

Ragland will no doubt want to make the most of being with her grandchild, Archie, on his very first Christmas.

While Meghan and Harry’s decision to spend Christmas away from the Royal Family comes amid rumours of a rift with William and Catherine, the move is not unprecedented.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have also spent the holiday with Catherine’s family in the past.
