Harrison Ford said to be critically injured in plane crash.

Actor Harrison Ford is reportedly in a critical condition after he had to emergency land a vintage plane he was flying onto a golf course in Los Angeles. Harrison, 72, was treated at the scene by two doctors on the golf course before being transported to hospital.

Reports on the condition of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones actor are mixed with media in the US reporting his condition as critical, however the Los Angeles Fire Department have said that there was only one passenger in a “fair to moderate” condition.

Howard Tabe, an employee at the Penmar Golf Course, told NBC News: “There was blood all over his face … Two very fine doctors were treating him, taking good care of him. I helped put a blanket under his hip.”

A police spokeswoman told reporters “We can confirm that there was a plane crash and the male occupant was a 65-70-year-old man.

“He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

“The incident was reported at 2.25pm. It was mechanical failure of plane, that’s what caused the accident.”

Harrison is a licensed pilot and aviation lover.

In an interview with American TV presenter Barbara Waters he spoke of how he “loved the freedom of flight.”

“I love the places you go,” he said. “I love the people in aviation, the people that I meet in aviation. I love seeing the world from an aeroplane. I’m in love with flying.”

According to reports in Fairfax Media, it’s not the first time that the veteran actor has crashed a plane he was piloting, he had a similar incident in 1999 and 2009.

Last year he broke his leg while filming the latest instalment in the Star Wars series.
