Where: Macau Tower, Macau, China

Height: 233m

Why: One of the world’s highest bungee jumps, the Macau Tower the ultimate free fall experience before slowing down 30 meters from the ground and rebounding back up. The guide cable system ensures you do not make contact with the tower and enables bungee jumps to happen in nearly all weather conditions. Night bungee is also available from 6pm in winter and 7.30pm in summer.

Royal Gorge Bridge

Where: Royal Gorge Bridge, Colorado, USA

Height: 365m

Why: One of the world’s highest suspension bridges, Colorado’s Royal Gorge doesn’t offer a traditional bungee but rather a swing that sees you sweep at 80 kilometres per hour through the air in a free fall, momentarily dangling 365 metres above the Arkansas River. Adrenalin junkies can also book in for ziplining experiences over the bridge.

Why: Set an epic 134-metres above the stark beauty of the Nevis River, the highest bungee in New Zealand is a once in a lifetime experience. This highwire bungee – where you jump from a platform suspended on wires over a gorge – is not for the faint of heart, but if you conquer it you’ll have earned the right to really tell people what to do in Queenstown.

Victoria Falls

Where: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe/Zambia

Why: This bungee jump over the mighty Victoria Falls marks the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia – don’t forget your passport. You jump off a bridge with one of the most spectacular, not to mention noisy, backdrops imaginable; the roaring of the mighty Zambezi River beneath will definitely draw your attention as it growls into the constricting Batoka Gorge directly ahead. There’s also a bridge swing and slide.

Verzasca Dam

Where: Verzasca Dam, Ticino, Switzerland

Height: 220m

Why: If the world’s second highest commercial bungee jump looks familiar, that’s because it starred in the opening scene of the James Bond 007 movie GoldenEye.
The Verzasca Valley is not only famous for being home to one of the highest dams in Europe, but also because of the beautiful countryside that follows you as you plunge down towards the dam’s watery bottom.

Bloukrans Bridge

Where: Bloukrans Bridge, South Africa

Height: 216m

Why: The view from Africa’s highest bridge captures all the majesty and tranquillity of the Bloukrans River valley. But there is nothing tranquil about throwing yourself more than 200 metres down towards the river below. Recognised as the highest bungee from a bridge in the world, this adrenalin-fuelled activity uses pendulum bungee technology to ensure the smoothest, most comfortable bungee jump possible.
