Actress Glenn Close was accompanied by her beloved pet dog Pip, as she attended the Independent Spirit Awards – and the adorable duo stole the show.
Glenn Close continued her awards season streak when she won Best Female Lead at the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday, in Santa Monica, California. But, it was her dog Pip, who stole the limelight multiple times.
Wearing a custom Sies Marjan suit, Close stunned the audience with her acceptance speech – but in a completely different way. This time around, she brought her dog onstage with her for perhaps the cutest moment in awards show history.
“He’s my date,” the actress, 71, told the audience. As she began to say, “I am so honoured to be here with all the women in this category. So so honored,” Close — and the camera — became distracted by Sir Pippin of Beanfield (as he’s known on Instagram) when he started rolling around on his back.
“What’s better than that?” Close asked the audience. “I brought him up for this very reason. It’s called ‘in the moment.’”

“No matter what you’re wearing, no matter what red carpet you walk on, no matter what people say to you, it’s all been extremely gratifying and humbling, the fact that we get together and we tell these stories that really make a difference in the world,” Close went on to say.
What remains to be seen is whether Close will have another memorable awards moment if she wins at the Oscars on Sunday night (Monday, NZST).
