Friendship bracelets changing lives
Everyone benefits from an accessory that is fashionable and underpinned by a humanitarian cause.

Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA) in partnership with the Body Shop, are selling accessories that not only look great, they also change lives.

Throughout August, the Body Shop are selling VSA Friendship Bracelets that are hand-woven by the Nga-centre in Vietnam, a centre for young people with disabilities.

Proceeds from the bracelets go towards supporting the VSA volunteers, who work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of women and girls in the Pacific. Through mentoring, women and girls are assisted with rebuilding their lives.

VSA CEO Gill Greer says helping women and girls is vital to work in developing countries “Women who have the health, the time and the opportunity to take part in paid employment can achieve a lot… lifting themselves and their families out of poverty.”

As Barrie Thomas, Director of The Body Shop NZ explains “the work that VSA volunteers undertake in the Pacific can be life changing, both for the volunteers and the groups they work with, and I’m delighted that we can help make this happen”

The bracelets will be on sale in all branches of The Body Shop across NZ from August 4 – August 31 for $3 each.

By purchasing a VSA Friendship Bracelet you are not only scoring a fashionable item, you are also supporting VSA to continue to help people and their families by working in areas like family health and support services in places where it is really needed. It’s a win win!
