Soldiers from Niger and Chad who liberated the Nigerian town of Damasak from Boko Haram militants have discovered the bodies of at least 70 people, many with their throats slit, scattered under a bridge, a Reuters witness said.

It is believed the massacre took place about two months ago and was the work of Boko Haram.

According to the UN’s High Commissioner for Refugees, Boko Haram took Damasak on 24 November, killing around 50 people and forcing another 3000 to flee.
