Evidence suggests Benedict Cumberbatch spent lockdown in New Zealand
It seems British actor Benedict Cumberbatch may have spent lockdown in New Zealand, after eagle-eyed fans spotted a telling clue in the background of a virtual book reading.

Cumberbatch participated in the second instalment of Taika Waititi’s star-studded reading of James and the Giant Peach. During his Zoom appearance, viewers noticed a bookshelf in the background that matches the one found inside the Summerlee Luxury Retreat in Te Awanga.

The star was also spotted at wineries, including at Mudbrick on Waiheke Island, just days before New Zealand went into Level 4 lockdown.

Cumberbatch had been in New Zealand filming Netflix drama The Power of the Dog before the country went into lockdown.

It’s believed he’s been holed up at the luxury Hawke’s Bay accommodation with his wife Sophie Hunter and their children.
