After years of fan speculation, the cast of Friends confirmed on Saturday they will be rebooting the much-loved sitcom.
Jennifer Aniston, alongside her five castmates, teased fans with an Instagram post, captioning “It’s happening…”
The special will capture the spirit of the time when “friends – and audiences – gathered together in real time,” says HBO Max chief content officer, Kevin Reilly
While the cast has remained tight-lipped about the show, there a few details we know:
- It will be a one-off special. Hopes of a full new season were dashed, as HBO confirmed the reunion will be a one-off special.
- It will air on HBO Max in May. The specific date is yet to be announced.
- All six original cast members will return. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer have all confirmed they will return for the reunion.
- Each actor is expected to be paid $2.5m for the one-off special, according to Variety.
