The show has been a huge hit, watched by 63 million households in just four weeks – making Netflix’s fifth-biggest original series ever.
Understandably, fans are eager for a follow-up season to explore more of the high-society scandals centred around the Bridgerton family.

Netflix has confirmed the show’s renewal
The news of Bridgerton’s renewal came straight from Shondaland’s Lady Whistledown.
“The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honor to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season. I do hope you have stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion.”
The cast will return for production in spring 2021.
It could run for eight seasons
The original book series Bridgerton is based on features eight books, each focussing on a different Bridgerton sibling.
While we are yet to hear whether the show will be renewed for more seasons, if it follows the book, fans might be lucky enough to get seven whole seasons.
It will focus on Daphne’s brother, Anthony Bridgerton
According to the announcement, Bridgerton season two will follow the books and focus on Anthony Bridgerton’s story.
“This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities,” announced Whistledown.
Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne, confirmed this in an interview with Town & Country, saying: “I love that [Daphne’s] story ends really nicely; it’s all tied up at the end. Now, I have a feeling that she’s going to have to get involved with Anthony’s love life, since it’s his turn next.”
All the cast members are keen to reprise their roles
The Bridgerton cast members have all expressed interest in returning to their roles in season two. In an interview with Radio Times, Coughlan says she’s excited to explore Penelope’s story in more detail. “I feel like we’ve just scratched the surface,” she said.
Speaking to Oprah Magazine, Regé-Jean Page who plays Duke of Hastings said he’d “absolutely” return for another season. “There’s a plethora of characters…and I think people enjoy exploring all of those depths and nooks and crannies.”
