The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Throw on their Aprons

Kate Middleton and Prince William got busy in the kitchen for the Commonwealth Big Lunch.

It was a busy day for Kate Middleton and Prince William as they underwent several engagements to celebrate the upcoming Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia. First, the royal couple visited the Copper Box Arena to watch a Team Sports Aid event.

SportsAid is a charity that helps young British athletes aspiring to enter in future Paralympics, Olympics and Commonwealth Games by providing support, training and nutritional advice. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met wheelchair basketball players and Prince William even tried his hand at shooting some hoops.

Next, Kate and Prince William visited St Luke’s Community Centre, where they threw on aprons and helped prepare food for a Commonwealth Big Lunch. The Big Lunch initiative seeks to unite people from Commonwealth countries ahead of the games. In this spirit, all recipes are from Commonwealth countries.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games begin on the Gold Coast of Australia on April 4th. Earlier this month, the royal family, plus Meghan Markle, celebrated Commonwealth Day at an official ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
