Duchess of Cornwall donates to bushfire relief effort
The Duchess of Cornwall has made a donation to a charity helping to provide for bushfire-affected communities.

Camilla made an undisclosed cash donation to online charity GIVIT, which is helping to provide items to people who have lost homes in the Australian bushfire crisis.

The donation will go towards providing items such as school uniforms and school supplies for children trying to return to school, fencing materials for rural families needing to rebuild their livelihoods and equipment for rural families needing to reconnect their water supply with new piping.

Camilla and husband Prince Charles have expressed their condolences to the people of Australia amid the ongoing crisis, with the Prince of Wales sharing a video to social media saying they are “thinking of you so very much at such an incredibly difficult time”.

“Both of us have been in despair over the last several weeks watching this appalling horror unfolding in Australia and witnessing so much of what you’re having to go through from this distance,” he said.

GIVIT founder Juliette Wright OAM said she was “so grateful” for the donation and is certain the Duchess’ show of support will “directly help to ease the suffering of the people and communities affected by the Australian bushfires”.

“I am so grateful the Duchess recognises practical help is desperately needed and GIVIT is honoured to work with Her Royal Highness to ensure that her donation makes a very real and tangible impact,” she said.

GIVIT is a not-for-profit organisation that matches urgent requests for goods with donations from the community through its online donation portal.
