Duchess of Cambridge reveals one of Prince Louis’ first words
The Duchess of Cambridge has revealed what one of Prince Louis’ first words was, and it’s equal parts adorable and surprising.

While appearing on TV special A Berry Royal Christmas with Mary Berry, Catherine revealed one of Louis’ first words was the legendary British cook’s name.

With the Duchess herself being a fan of the Great British Bake Off star, her youngest son uttered the word ‘Mary’ after he spotted her cookbooks on the Cambridges’ kitchen shelf.

“One of Louis’ first words was ‘Mary’ because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf,” Kate said.

“And children are really fascinated by faces, and your face is all over your cooking books and he would say, ‘That’s Mary Berry’… So he would definitely recognise you if he saw you today.”

The Duchess gave a rare insight into family life in the programme, revealing she cooks with her three children.

“I really enjoy it. Again, for them to be creative, for them to try and be as independent as possible with it,” she said.

She revealed the family uses Berry’s recipes when making pizza, which her children “loved”.

Prince William is also interviewed on the programme by Berry, and he explained how his mother, Princess Diana, influenced his own parenting style.

“She realised that it was very important when you grow up – especially in the life that we grew up – that you realise that life happens beyond palace walls, and that you see real people struggling with real issues,” he said.

William said on the school run he speaks to Prince George, 6, and Princess Charlotte, 4, about such issues.

Whenever we see someone who is sleeping rough on the street I talk about it and I point it out and I explain.”

The Christmas special, which airs in the UK on Monday night, sees Catherine and William tour various charities and prepare festive food for those working and volunteering over the holiday period.

The royal couple then host a party for charity staff featuring a menu designed by Berry which includes some of her favourite Christmas recipes.
