It’s official, we need dark chocolate to be happy.

Eat dark chocolate, reduce stress

Research shows that there might be health benefits to eating certain types of dark chocolates. In fact, it’s dark chocolate with a high concentration of cacao (minimally 70% cacao, 30% organic cane sugar) that is said to be the winner, according to two studies presented at the Experimental Biology 2018 annual meeting in San Diego. Many will be happy to know that the effects are extremely positive in reducing stress levels and inflammation and improving mood, memory, and immunity.

While it is well known that cacao is a major source of flavonoids, this is the first time the effect has been studied in human subjects to determine how it can support cognitive, endocrine and cardiovascular health. And the results are very encouraging.

Dark chocolate is loaded with nutrients that can positively affect your health. Made from the seed of the cocoa tree, it is one of the best sources of antioxidants on the planet. Other studies show that dark chocolate (not the sugary type) can improve your health and lower the risk of heart disease.

So next time you want a little bit of chocolatey goodness there’s no need to feel guilty. You might even want to give yourself a pat on the back for being so healthy.
