But not everyone is being praised for how they have approached the unrest. A number of stars have been criticised for their responses, or lack thereof.
Ellen DeGeneres
The talkshow host has delete a tweet regarding the protests after she was called out for saying “people of colour” rather than “black people”.
David Guetta
The French DJ has been slammed for reacting to the protests with a remix that samples Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech, which he created “in honour of George Floyd”.

He was also accused of “policing” the anger of black people when he shared a video of rapper Killer Mike urging protesters not to “burn their house down”.
Watch the whole thing. Eloquent. Clear. Everyone is angry but there is a way to direct that anger. https://t.co/8YFRuD3jBs

Kylie Jenner
The youngest in the Kardashian-Jenner clan went on a Twitter rant about Forbes accusing her of lying about her billionaire status, which many called out as tone deaf considering the events taking place across the US.

Stephanie Pratt
People were left shocked after the former The Hills star posted a series of tweets condemning the protests, including one where she wrote “shoot the looters”. She was called out for hypocrisy given she has previously been arrested for shoplifting.
Marina Diamandis
The ‘Marina and the Diamonds’ singer was panned for comparing mental illness to police brutality after she posted that you’d “have to be mentally ill to be a cop”.
Kanye West
While many celebrities are criticised for what they have been saying, there are just as many who are being slammed for saying nothing at all. The normally outspoken Kanye West had been criticised for being unusually silent during the protests, until it was revealed he made a $2 million donation to support the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.
