The artist has finally accepted the Nobel Prize for Literature

After months of uncertainty and controversy, Bob Dylan has finally accepted the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature.

Dylan was announced as the award’s recipient six months’ ago, however in a controversial move, the musician failed to attend the December ceremony. Citing previous commitments, a speech on Dylan’s behalf said that he was “truly beyond words,” as reported in The Independent.

Now Dylan has finally accepted the award ahead of his concert in Stockholm, at an intimate event away from the press.

Dylan is the first musician to ever receive the Nobel Prize for Literature, as in previous years the award has traditionally gone to writers and poets. He was named the winner of the prestigious accolade for “having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.”
