The legendary comedian will celebrate her birthday on 17 January, but festivities will look a little different this year.
The star has simple plans for her quarantine birthday, saying she will be “working on getting The Pet Set re-released, and feeding the two ducks who come to visit me every day”.
The Pet Set was a 1970s show hosted by White, in which Betty met with celebrities who introduced their beloved pets. The show is set for re-release in February.
Unfortunately, White’s daily exercise has been affected by the pandemic, so she won’t be going for her usual morning jog.
“Running a mile each morning has been curtailed by COVID,” she said.
Showing no signs of slowing down, White is unfazed by old age.
“I am blessed with good health so turning 99 is no different than turning 98,” she said.
She reveals the secret to her health and a long life is having “a sense of humour” and “looking at the positive side and not dwelling on the downside”.
“Don’t take yourself too seriously,” she says. “You can lie to others – not that I would – but you cannot lie to yourself.”
