Carrie Bickmore, who was named more popular presenter on TV at the 2015 Logies, paid an emotional tribute to her late husband Greg Lange who died of brain cancer in 2010 and is urging people to wear a beanie for brain cancer and start talking about the disease.
Holding back tears on the night, The Project host said she wanted to dedicate her award “to anyone that is going through a s–t time right now. Please believe there will be a brighter day for you. Please believe that.”
Brickmore shared that she watched Lange suffer over ten years during which he suffered multiple seizures a day and cause him to lose the feeling down one side of his body. He had been embarrassed about his surgery scars and wore a beanie to cover them.
“He was an incredibly brave man, he was a great dad, he was a great husband. But he shouldn’t have had to go through that,” Brickmore said before whipping out a blue beanie, putting it on and challenging every TV host in Australia to do the same.
Her challenge extends to everyone. Take a photograph of yourself with the hashtag #BeaniesForBrainCancer and share.
