Some of Australia’s most respected actors have graced the red carpet at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival.

Cate Blanchett, Yvonne Strahovski, Asher Keddie and Jai Courtney were joined by newcomer Soraya Heidari and British actor Dominic West to promote their new drama series Stateless.

The show had its world premiere at Berlinale ahead of its release on the ABC in Australia on 1 March.

It’s set to be released worldwide on Netflix later this year.

The show centres on four characters whose lives become intertwined as they are caught up in one of Australia’s immigration detention centres.

Stateless was co-created by Blanchett, and was initially inspired by Cornelia Rau, a German citizen and Australian permanent resident who was unlawfully detained in 2004.
