Incredible Aussie start-up launches pilot shower van in a bid to provide much needed service to our homeless community.

From the Aussie start-up that brought you Orange Sky Laundry comes the pair’s newest venture – Orange Sky Showers, an innovative vehicle providing the homeless population with something we all take for granted – a good shower.

Their free mobile shower van for the homeless was successfully launched after their mobile laundries were an Australia-wide hit.

Orange Sky Laundry began in 2014 with two washing machines and two dryers in the back of a van and quickly grew to 9 vans across 70 locations and washing over 6.1 tonnes of laundry every week for those in-need.

The first prototype of the mobile shower, entirely funded by the Shine On Foundation, will travel around Brisbane, delivering showers and comfort to the homeless community. Once the trial period is over, the van will be permanently returned to Melbourne.

On the Orange Sky website it states that the project’s aim is “to connect the community, whether through conversation, laundry or showers or a combination of all three!”

The non-for-profit’s shower van is fitted with two showers and is powered by self-sufficient heating and water tanks.

You can donate to this amazing cause from as little as $3 at the Orange Sky website here.
