A gun and bomb attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport – the third busiest in Europe – has killed at least 32 people and injured dozens of others.
At least 20 people and possibly as many 60 people were wounded with casualties rushed to hospital in taxis.
Police reportedly opened fire on two men near a security screening checkpoint but the men still had time to set off suicide vests.
Reports say there may have been others involved in the attack.
The airport was seen as a vulnerable target, particularly after the attack on Brussels Airport – an attack claimed by Islamic State.
Flights were stopped from taking off following the attack and only those in the air near the airport were allowed to land.
Update: As of 9am EST upwards of 28 people have been killed and over 60 have been injured.
