Angelina Jolie's acceptance speech for 'favourite villain' was all about accepting our differences. And it was brilliant.

Angelina Jolie won big at the Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice awards and used her acceptance speech for winning Favourite Villain (for Maleficent) in the best way possible.

It was Jolie’s first public appearance since writing of her decision to remover her ovaries because of a cancer risk. She attended the event with her two daughters, Zahara and Shiloh, who reacted in the most adorable way possible – with huge fist pumps and grins from ear to ear.

In her acceptance speech Jolie said that just like her character Maleficent, she too was different when she was younger.

“Then one day I realized something, something I hope you all realize: Different is good,” she told the crowd. “So don’t fit in, don’t sit still, never try to be less than what you are, and when someone tells you that you are different, smile and hold your head up high and be proud.”

“And, as your villain, I would also say cause a little trouble — it’s good for you.”

Jolie’s article on her recent surgery had been posted all around the world.

In it she writes of the difficult decision,

“It is not easy to make these decisions. But it is possible to take control and tackle head-on any health issue. You can seek advice, learn about the options and make choices that are right for you. Knowledge is power.”
